অতীতচারণ/Flashback -জন্মের ঠিক নেই/Birth is not right

 

জন্মের ঠিক নেই ,

জন্মের ঠিক নেই এটা  একটা গালি বা অশ্লীল বাক্য হিসেবে দেখা হয়।  কিন্তু কখন  যে, নিজের অজান্তে মানুষ এর শিকার হয় তার জলজেন্ত প্রমান আমি। ১৯৮০ সালে নবম শ্রেণীতে উঠেছি । সায়েন্স নিয়েছি যার বাংলা অর্থ বিজ্ঞান। এটা মেধাবী ছাত্ররা পড়ে। সেই দলে আমার নাম উঠেছে। ভুত ভবিষ্যত, সাত পাঁচ , ভালো মন্দ ,যোগ্যতা অযোগ্যতা  ইত্যাদি কোনো কিছু না বুঝে না শুনে  আমি বিজ্ঞানের দলে যোগ দিলাম। উদ্দেশ্য মনে মনে যে, ডাক্তার কিংবা ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হবো। কিন্তু এটা মনে তখন আসেনি পেশা শুধু এই দুটোই নয় পেইন্টার , প্লাম্বার , ইলেক্ট্রিশিয়ান,পাইলট,নাবিক ইত্যাদি এইগুলোও পেশা। যাহোক শুরু করলাম বিজ্ঞান সাধনা যাত্রা। সবকিছু  ভালো ছিল, ছিল সম্মান কারণ লোকে বলতো হোসেন সাহেবের ছেলে মেধাবী, সায়েন্স নিয়েছে।  কিন্তু গোল বাধালো অর্থ। একটা গানে শুনেছিলাম "টাকা দেখতে গোল, থাকলে গোল, না থাকলেও গন্ডগোল। " গোল টাকার মূল্য পূর্বে থাকলেও এখন নাই বললেই চলে কারণ এখন কাগজের চারকোনা টাকার বড় নোটটাই বহু পরিমানে না থাকলে মূল্যহীন হয়ে পরে মানুষ। কথা উঠতে পারে বিজ্ঞানের সাথে অর্থ আবার আসলো কেন?   

কারণটা সাধারণ,অষ্টম শ্রেণীতে ইলেক্টিভ ম্যাথ, ফিজিক্স, কেমিস্ট্রি,বায়োলজি  ছিল না। এগুলো এসে জুড়লো নবম শ্রেণীর বিজ্ঞানে, আর এগুলো আয়ত্ব করতে প্রয়োজন উস্তাদের সহায়তা কিন্তু তখন পিতার আর্থিক অবস্থায় চলছে অনটন। এসব নিয়ে যখন চিন্তা ভাবনায় ত্রাহি অবস্থা সেই সময় ক্লাস টিচার পাঠান স্যার বললো,

"এই শোন , আগামীকাল তোদের সবার রেজিস্ট্রেশন হবে। তোরা সবাই রেডি থাকিস। "

উনি কোনো পাঠান বংশের না। বাড়ি এদেশেই। মুষ্টি মতো চাপ দাড়ি আছে। ঢাকা গভঃ মুসলিম হাই স্কুল এর অনেক টিচারের দাড়ি আছে, তাই সেটা কোনো বড় ব্যাপার না বড় ব্যাপার হলো উনি কাবুলি ড্রেস পড়েন এবং মাথায় প্রায়শই পাগড়ি পড়েন।  তাই সিরাজুল ইসলাম নাম হওয়া সত্বেও ওনাকে সবাই পাঠান স্যার হিসেবেই চিনেন। আর নামটা যে ওনার সাথে মানানসই তা ওনার সাথে আমার প্রথম দর্শনেই আমি বুজতে পারি। আমার প্রথম ক্লাস সেভেনে ভর্তি হওয়া, কমন রুমে এক অনুষ্ঠানে ছাত্ররা সব ফ্লোরে মাটিতে চাদরের উপর বসা। এই রুমে আমরা টেবিল টেনিস খেলতাম সেই টেবিলটা এক কোনে সাইড করে রাখা, টেবিলের এই পাশের কিছু ছাত্র শোরগোল করছিলো স্যার জাম্প করে টেবিলের উপর দিয়ে দৌড়িয়ে সেই ছাত্রদের পাশে এসে একটা ছাত্রকে দাঁড় করিয়ে ধমক দিলো যা আমি বহু বছর পরে অমিতাভের খুদা গাওয়া ছবির অ্যাকশন সীনে দেখতে পেয়েছিলাম।  আমি দুর্বল কণ্ঠে পাশের সহপাঠীকে জিজ্ঞেস করেছিলাম,

"উনি কে?"

তার উত্তর ছিলো ,

"পাঠান স্যার। "

যাহোক প্রসঙ্গে আসি। আমরা সবাই জিজ্ঞেস করলাম,

"কেন স্যার, কিসের রেডি , কোনো টাকা পয়সা লাগবে নাকি?"

সরকারি বিদ্যালয়ে পড়ি। বেতন শুরু হয়েছিল ৫টাকা টিফিন ৭টাকা  মোট ১২ টাকা দিয়ে বর্তমানে তা দাঁড়িয়েছে বেতন ৫ টাকা টিফিন ১০ টাকা মোট ১৫ টাকা।  কোনো টাকার কথা বললে আমাদের মাথায় বাজ ভেঙে পরে। 

স্যার বললো,

" টাকা পয়সা লাগবে না। জন্ম তারিখ জেনে আসবি। রেজিস্ট্রেশন ছাড়া তোদের সারা জীবনের সাধনা এস,এস,সি পরীক্ষা দিতে পারবিনা। " 

পরদিন যথারীতি স্কুলে গিয়ে পৌঁছানোর পর আমাদেরকে ক্লাসে না বসিয়ে নিচের তলার একটি কামড়ায় বসানো হলো যেখানে প্রাক্তন ছাত্ররা মিটিং করে, আড্ডা দেয়।  ক্লাস টিচার  পাঠান স্যার, দশম শ্রেণীর বিজ্ঞানের ক্লাস টিচার আবুল হোসেন স্যার, বিজ্ঞান টিচার রশিদ স্যার, শহীদুল্লাহ স্যার সবাই একে একে রুমের মধ্যে হাজির হলো। এতগুলো মেইন  মেইন  স্যার কে দেখে আমাদের মধ্যে চাঞ্চল্যের সৃষ্টি হল কি ব্যাপার কি ঘটতে যাচ্ছে ইত্যাদি ইত্যাদি,  যা হোক রশিদ স্যার প্রথমে শুরু করলেন,

" এখন যে কাজটা তোমরা করতে যাচ্ছ এটাই তোমাদের সারা জীবনের হিসেবের মধ্যে থাকবে এখন রেজিস্ট্রেশনের মধ্যে তোমরা যে বয়সটা যুক্ত করবে সেই বয়সটা দিয়েই তোমরা সরকারি চাকরি নেবে, বয়সটা যদি পার হয়ে যায় তাই হিসেব করে একটু কমিয়ে দিবে যাতে তোমাদের বয়স সরকারি চাকরির সীমার মধ্যে থাকে যখন তোমরা মাস্টার্স কমপ্লিট করবে, তখন যেন তোমাদের বয়স চাকরি সীমানার বাইরে না চলে যায়। "

 আমার বয়স ৬ /১১/ ১৯৬৪ ঈসায়ী  এই বয়সে ধরে হিসাব করে দেখতে পেলাম চাকরির সীমানার বাইরে চলে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা আছে।  যদি, সেশন জট এ  পড়ি।  তাই আঙুল দিয়ে  হিসাব শুরু করলাম আর এই হিসাবের  সুবিধার্থে জানুয়ারি মাসের ১ তারিখ বেছে নিলাম। সবকিছু বাছ  বিচার করে ১/ ১/ ১৯ ৬৭ লিখলাম যাতে মনে হল বিসিএস ক্যাডার কিংবা সরকারি যেকোনো চাকরি কিংবা কোন ব্যাংকে চাকরি ইজিলি ২-১ বছর লস হলেও পেয়ে যাব, আমি শুধু না আমার মত অনেকেই এই রাস্তা ধরেই হাঁটলো, তাতে তাদের রাশিচক্র পাল্টিয়ে গেল ।আমি আজ পর্যন্ত জানিনা জানুয়ারিতে জন্ম নিলে আমার কোন রাশি? কারণ আমি জন্মগতভাবে বৃশ্চিক রাশির জাতক, রাশি  নিয়েও আমি তেমন কোন চিন্তিত না কিন্তু জন্ম যে পরিবর্তন হয়ে গেল জন্ম যে বেঠিক হয়ে গেল তা নিয়ে ভবিষ্যতে বহু অসুবিধা এবং চিন্তার মধ্যে পড়লাম, জন্মের ঠিক নেই কথাটা ঠিক না জন্ম তারিখের ঠিক নেই যেটা নিজের হাত দিয়ে নিজেই করলাম। ভবিষ্যতের  চিন্তা করলাম না, তখনই যে চিন্তাটা সামনে আসলো কিভাবে সরকারি চাকরি পাব , অথচ আজকে ৬০ বছর পার করে কোন সরকারি চাকরি করা হলো না। আর্মিতে চাকরি করতে চাইলাম কমিশন রেঙ্কে।  সেখানের সমস্যা দেখে, কঠোরতা দেখে, বাদ দিলাম।  মেরিন ইঞ্জিনিয়ার হতে চেয়েছিলাম।  সাঁতার জানিনা সমুদ্রে গেলে নাকি প্রচন্ড বমি হয় তাই সেটা বাদ দিলাম। বি সি এস দিতে চেয়েছিলাম সেটাও বাদ দিলাম গ্রামে যেতে হবে বলে। প্রাইভেট চাকরি করেছি যেখানে বয়সের তেমন একটা প্রয়োজন ছিল না যোগ্যতাটাই সবকিছু।  ব্যবসা করলাম বাণিজ্য করলাম সরকারি চাকরি আর নেওয়া হলো না অথচ মধ্য দিয়ে বয়সটাই পরিবর্তিত হয়ে গেল।  হায়রে কপাল, হায়রে বিধি, জাতীয় পরিচয় পত্রে এসএসসিতে যে ডেট অফ বার্থ তার সেই হিসাবে দিতে হলো। যদি পাল্টাতে চাই এফিডেভিট করতে হবে নানান সমস্যা তার থেকে বাঁচতে গিয়ে সেই জন্ম তারিখ টাই নিয়ে এখন পথ চলছি। 

নিজের জন্মদিন করি কিন্তু সবাই বলে পহেলা জানুয়ারি না? তাই নিজেই গোপনে করি কাউকে জানাই না বর্তমানে বার্থ সার্টিফিকেটের প্রচলন হয়েছে সেটার মধ্যেও আমার  ১/ ১/ ১৯ ৬৭। ভবিষ্যতে যদি কখনো জীবনী লেখাও হয় সেখানে কি তারিখ দিব? জন্মের ঠিক নেই বা জন্ম তারিখের ঠিক নেই এই সমস্যা থেকে কি আর উত্তরিত হতে  পারব না ?  আল্লাহ মালিক তিনিই সব ভালো জানেন। 

"Birth is not right", 

"Birth is not right" is seen as an insult or obscene phrase. But I am living proof that when people fall victim to it without their knowledge, I am in ninth grade in 1980. I took science, which means science in Bengali. It is studied by talented students. My name was included in that group. I joined the science swing after hearing about ghosts, future, seven-five, good-bad, qualification-incompetence, etc. without understanding anything. My intention was to become a doctor or an engineer. But it did not occur to me at that time, not only these two professions, but also painter, plumber, electrician, pilot, sailor, etc. These are also professions. However, I started the journey of pursuing science. Everything was good, there was respect because people used to say that Hossain Saheb's son was talented, he took science. But money was the obstacle. I heard a song that said, "Money looks round, if it is round, if it is not, it is a mess." Although round money had value in the past, it is no longer so, because now, if you do not have a large amount of paper money, it becomes worthless. The question may arise, why did money come back with science?

The reason is simple, there were no electives in eighth grade, math, physics, chemistry, biology. These were added to ninth grade science, and to master them, the help of teachers was needed, but at that time, my father's financial situation was going through a difficult time. When I was in a state of depression thinking about all this, the class teacher, Pathan sir, said, "Listen, tomorrow you all will be registered. You are all ready." He is not from a Pathan clan. He lives in this country. He has a thick beard like a fist. Many teachers at Dhaka Government Muslim High School have beards, so that is not a big deal. The big deal is that he wears a Kabuli dress and often wears a turban on his head. So despite his name being Sirajul Islam, everyone knows him as Pathan sir. And I could understand the name suits him the first time I met him. My first admission to class seven, in a function in the common room, the students were all sitting on the floor. In this room, we used to play table tennis, the table was kept aside in one corner, some students on this side of the table were making noise, sir jumped and ran over the table, came to those students and made a student stand up and scolded him, which I saw many years later in the action scene of Amitabh's Khuda Gawa. I asked the classmate next to me in a weak voice,

"Who is he?"

His answer was,

"Send sir."

Anyway, coming to the topic. We all asked,

"Why sir, what are you ready for, do you need any money?"

I studied in a government school. The salary started with 5 taka tiffin, 7 taka, total 12 taka, now it has stood at 5 taka tiffin, 10 taka, total 15 taka. If we talk about any money, lightning strikes our heads.

Sir said, "No money is required. I will come after knowing your date of birth. Without registration, you will not be able to take the SSC exam, which you have been striving for all your life."

The next day, after reaching school as usual, instead of sitting in the classroom, we were made to sit in a room downstairs where former students hold meetings and chat. Class teacher Pathan Sir, class teacher Abul Hossain Sir of class 10, science teacher Rashid Sir, Shahidullah Sir all appeared in the room one by one. Seeing so many main main sirs, there was a sensation among us, what is going to happen etc. etc. Anyway, Rashid Sir started first,

"The work you are going to do now will be in the calculation of your whole life. Now, the age you will add in the registration will be the age you will take the government job with, if the age is exceeded, then the calculation will be reduced a little so that your age is within the government job limit. When you complete your masters, then your age will not go beyond the job limit. "

My age is 6 / 11 / 1964 Christian, I calculated this age and found that there is a possibility of going beyond the job limit. If, I read the session jam. So I started calculating with my finger and for the convenience of this calculation I chose the 1st of January. After considering everything, I wrote 1/1/1967 so that I thought that I would easily get a BCS cadre or any government job or a job in a bank even if I lost 2-1 years, not only me but many people like me walked this path, and their zodiac signs changed. I still don't know what my zodiac sign is if I was born in January? Because I am a Scorpio by birth, I am not too worried about my zodiac sign, but the change in my birth sign, the birth sign that became wrong, I faced many difficulties and worries in the future, the birth was not right, the date of birth was not right, which I did with my own hands. I didn't think about the future, the thought that came to mind was how to get a government job, but today, after 60 years, no government job has been done. I wanted to work in the army in the commission rank. Seeing the problems there, seeing the rigor, I gave up. I wanted to become a marine engineer. I don't know how to swim, or I get very nauseous when I go into the sea, so I gave it up. I wanted to give BCS but I dropped that too because I had to go to the village. I did a private job where age was not a requirement, qualifications were everything. I did business, I did trade, but I was not taken for government jobs, but my age changed in the process. Alas, the rules, I have to give the date of birth as per the SSC in the national identity card. If I want to change it, I have to make an affidavit, which will cause various problems, so I am now following that date of birth. I celebrate my birthday, but everyone says it is not January 1st, so I do it secretly and do not tell anyone. Even though birth certificates have been introduced, my date is 1/1/1967. If I ever write a biography in the future, what date will I put there? Will I not be able to overcome this problem of not being born or not having the right date of birth? Allah, the Lord, knows everything best.
